Today, the global retailer’s all-in-one purchasing platform, DHgate, announces the formal launch of its large-volume trade platform, DHport. DHport is powered by DHgate’s “Cross-Border Cloud Service” and is the first platform of its kind to integrate traditional cross border trade with comprehensive foreign trade services through its digital platform.

This integration revolutionizes the traditional trading industry, by allowing international traders, suppliers, and wholesalers to not only trade through DHport, but also complete all needed supply chain services, such as payment, logistics, and finance, as well as requested applications to diverse government agencies including custom clearance, inspection, tax returns, etc. This service has already yielded results for decreased costs, increased efficiency, and reduced time to complete the export process. The launch of DHport formally marks the beginning of a new era of global digital trade.

Features of Cloud-Based Exporting

DHport integrated all major exporting procedures involved in international trade through Cross-Border Cloud Service, which is the key to ensuring a one-stop exporting experience.

DHport allows domestic suppliers to select their own cross border service providers for every step of the export process through its digital trading platform. Prior to DHport, domestic suppliers have traditionally been forced to visit multiple locations, submit multiple documents, certifications, and papers to complete the export process. Today, with DHport, through the Cross-Border Cloud, domestic suppliers are able to finish all needed procedures in a matter of minutes.

Case Study: Wuxi Meiyang Machine Co. Ltd

Wuxi Meiyang Machine Co. Ltd was the first enterprise to try DHport. The Wuxi Trading Co. is registered in Beijing, their factory is located in Wuxi, they export goods out of a port in Shanghai, and undergo product inspection in Tianjin. With the power of the Cross-Border Cloud, they were not only able to lower their logistics cost by 10%, but were also able to finish the entire customs clearance process in just 7 minutes from a single location. In the past, this process usually takes over 7 days to complete.

Acceleration of Industry Transformation

The decrease in demand in international trade for products sourced through traditional channels has resulted in high numbers of domestic manufacturers looking for new exporting channels to boost their businesses. As the world leading manufacturing nation, China laid a solid foundation for B2B cross-border e-commerce platforms, such as DHgate, to upgrade the traditional trade industry into digital trade.

According to Chinese Ecommerce Research Centre’s 2016 Data Report on China’s E-Commerce Market, in 2016, China’s cross-border e-commerce trade volume has reached about 1 trillion USD; its cross-border e-commerce export trade volume reached 0.8 trillion USD, a 22.2% year-on-year growth; the B2B trade takes a proportion up to 88.7%.

These ideal market conditions all create the perfect timing for the launch of DHport.

Upgrading Business Models

For the past 12 years, DHgate operated a B2B cross-border e-commerce platform. They empowered over 1.4 million Chinese small-and-medium sized enterprises to send small volume orders to over 10 million buyers in 227 countries in 8 languages. For the next 12 years, DHgate will upgrade their digital platform to promote digital trade through DHport, to enable suppliers on DHgate, to leverage DHport’s services to upgrade their export business, to process large volume orders with just a few clicks in on a single website.

Beginning of an Era

“The era of digital globalization pushed traditional trade to upgrade to a brand new model, empowered by digital. For the last 12 years in the cross-border e-commerce industry, we at DHgate have always dedicated ourselves to helping international traders and trading service companies to upgrade their businesses to using digital platforms, helping global suppliers and buyers cut out the middlemen, and realizing a trade model which allows for deals to be closed in one click by connecting all necessary partners in the cross-border ecommerce ecosystem. Today, the launch of DHport is an embodiment of our commitment to the promise of building the “Online Silk Road” and empowering enterprises to “Buy Globally and Sell Globally,” DHgate Founder and CEO, Diane Wang.
